Intentions
Whether I like it or not, this story is coming out through me, I am just the vehicle. The book has been written over and over 5 times, and hasn’t left me yet. Time to let it out into the universe!
I am an American woman who met my Indian husband on the NYC subway. We got married in Bombay 3 years later, and have been raising 2 amazing Indo-Western kids near the city that never sleeps. I started writing a book about my experiences nine years ago, and with each draft, it has gotten deeper, more honest, and more real.

That was my first time going to India, my first time meeting his parents, and my first Indian wedding. I was the overnight princess in an amazing series of events that were completely foreign to me. Much of everything since then has become second nature, and I realize that my unique story is not something that a typical American experiences.
It took me years to shift from “flying by the seat of my pants” to “finding my own way.” How do I incorporate Indian culture into my own, while remaining who I am? With familiarity comes focus, and I feel like I finally know what I’m doing.

This site is to formally announce to the universe that my story exists. I am self-publishing my book, unless the ideal partner appears. I always thought this story would become a movie, as well as a Broadway show. Theater is where my heart is, so while the movie is going to be great, the live performances where you feel the music and get goose bumps gets me even more excited.

I have imagined each detail of the soundtrack for the movie/theater, with inspiration from current/past artists. I can literally hear the music in my head, and look forward to collaborating with people who can bring it to life. Who knows, maybe this will be the opportunity for someone new to break into the scene.
Going forward, beyond the story, I intend to use this book as a platform to launch and sustain my own home goods and jewelry collections. I have almost 15 years experience as a New York City design professional in interior design and jewelry. It took me 13 years of marriage, and lots of soul searching to realize that with I really do have a look! With one foot in NYC and one foot in Bombay, it’s the perfect blend of Manhattanite with Indian flair.
